International Coffee Day 2023/Why Celebrate International Coffee Day?

1 October of every year is observed as International Coffee Day. The first official coffee day was celebrated on 1 October 2015 by the International Coffee Organization (ICO) in Milan.

On this day coffee was recognized as a beverage. The coffee lovers and coffee community exchange gifts with each other. Companies offer coupons to their loyal customers on this day.

Coffee is the world’s most famous and highly consumed drink. Coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world. some sources consider that coffee is the first trade commodity.

In the current year the trade level of the coffee totaled 10.7 million 60-kg bags in July 2021, an increase of 1.7% compared with 10.5 million bags in July 2020.

1. The date of discovery of Coffee.

it was told that 9th-century goat herders observed the effect caffeine had on their goats, who felt unusual effects after eating the fruit of the Coffea plant. A local priest then made a drink with the product and found that it kept him awake at night, thus the cup of coffee was born in 800 A.D.

2. Coffee beans are actually seeds.

Coffee plants have a resemblance to shrubs and cherry-like berries. It is actually seeded but we call them beans.

According to International Coffee Organization, Finland has the biggest and largest coffee consumers. 27.5 pounds consumed by each adult in Finland

64% of American adults currently consume coffee and about 400 million cups of coffee every day

8. American Females consumed Coffee 66 % of Coffee

66% of American women drink coffee every day as compared to 62% of men.
